How to change default editor on centos

Step 1 - Install nano

$ sudo dnf install nano

Step 2 - Edit .bash_profile

$ nano ~/.bash_profile

At the bottom of the file, add the following line:

export VISUAL="nano"
export EDITOR="nano"

To Save CTRL+O | ENTER | CTRL+X

Conclusions

On Centos, the default editor is "vi" a powerful editor. However, for beginners, working with vi can be difficult, and using a much simpler editor like nano is the best way to begin learning while focusing on the main topic.
